Hi I'm Alexandra

 

Originally from Bracknell, in the South of England, Alexandra is currently undertaking a MA in International Multimedia Journalism at Newcastle University. During 2013, Alex received her Bachelor degree in English Literature at Swansea University and hopes to eventually pursue a career in the Broadcast Journalism or Features writing field. Alexandra considers herself as a bit of a “cultural nerd”, obsessed with all forms of music, film, television and the arts. She's obsessed with American culture, and hopes to work out there one day as a journalist.

 

“I really wanted to contribute to this project as I believe that it is a duty for journalists to raise more awareness about this situation. With personal family members going through the same journey, I feel that not only am I gaining awareness about it, but I am making others notice the importance and challenges of integrating into a new community too.”

 

During the project, Alexandra mainly specialised in onscreen interviewing, organising meetings, photography and working on the website's design and format. Furthermore, Alexandra used her DSLR Nikon D5100 to take photographs of behind the scenes and actual participants/events. Throughout the project, Alex developed her skills in filming and editing; whilst writing up articles and producing information for the website.

 

Most Inspirational Woman: Julia Roberts (Not only is she a magnificent actress, but she spends her spare time raising awareness about UNICEF and other charitable organisations.) In terms of News Presenters, I absolutely adore Christiane Amanpour for how much she has achieved as a British-Iranian Female Journalist. I hope to aspire to her level someday.

 

Favourite Cake Flavour: Red Velvet Cake. It stands out from the stereotypical cakes with its strong colour and it just tastes delicious! Plus its an American concoction!

 

On a Sunday evening, I’m most likely to be… doing additional unnecessary work or watching an episode of my latest television addiction. (Currently Mad Men)

 

Ultimate Career Aspiration: Broadcast Journalist or Anchor for CNN, in Atlanta, or as a Film Columnist for Empire Magazine, in London.
